  1. We can rejoice in such exchanges only if we are really not looking for Justice or Peace. we MUST stop shouting at each other!!

Sorry to be trite but someone once sadi, “Blessed are the peacemakers”

    • But George Galloway has been a champion of justice and peace for years!

He has supported the oppressed Palestinians against their Zionist occupiers; he has campaigned against the illegal invasion of Iraq and against the brutal occupation of Afganistan and for peace.

You say ‘we MUST stop shouting at each other!!’

But George is not shouting by confronting the powers that justify the killing of innocent men, women and Children. Why doesn’t the Church of England speak out clearly as he does? When did the Bishop of London (your bishop) speak out in defence of the Afghan people and against the war?

You said “Sorry to be trite but someone once said, “Blessed are the peacemakers””

Yes that is a highly selective quote from Matthew’s gospel.

But let us look at his other teaching. The same someone (ie Jesus!) would doubtless earn your rebuke as later in the same gospel (chapter 23) he shouted abuse at the Scribes and Pharisees denouncing them as “hypocrites” “blind guides” and “fools”; compared them to “whitewashed tombs which inside are full of the bones of the dead and all kinds of filth”(!) He also called them “snakes” and “a brood of vipers”.

According to Matthew chapter 15 Jesus called a gentile woman “a dog”.

So I think George is quite mild-mannered compared to Matthew’s Jesus, don’t you?

  2. I remember years ago, before I had accepted Islam, seeing George Galloway portrayed as an utter buffoon. Of course now it makes absolute sense why certain parties would wish to portray him as such.
