  1. Presumably this is intended to infllame moderate Muslims? It’s so sad. Do you not realise that there are many people in this world who are not Muslim that would not dream of insulting or belittling or defaming Mohammed in any way?

    • Michael I think you misunderstand the intention behind this poster. It is certainly not designed to inflame anyone!

In the Western world at the moment it is open season on Muslims and the prophet Mohammed. You can’t criticise homosexuality any more (it’s illegal), nor speak about black people in the way that was common just a few years ago in the UK (illegal too), but slander, lies and defamation against Islam and Muslims are a daily occurrence in the UK, in the press, on TV and above all on Christian websites (the worst offenders). In fact the vitriol is increasing in volume and nastiness as time passes.

Could it be that privileged members of the nation’s dominant religious group – the clergy of the Church of England – find it difficult to see and understand the protests of members of the world’s most maligned religion? It’s akin to us whites criticising “uppity blacks” in the 19th century or us men dismissing women’s rights campaigners as “emotional” or “unbalanced” in the early 20th century.

The poster articulates a moderate, insightful and entirely necessary piece of cultural criticism. Its sad that you do not see it that way…

  2. Quran 3:186 “You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah – indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.”
